Jack Vance was decennialang de meest gelezen SF-schrijver in de lage landen. De Amerikaanse SF en Fantasy Grootmeester schreef in totaal 140 romans, novelles en verhalen, waarvan er tussen 1965 en 2005 ongeveer 110 in het Nederlands verschenen. De alomtegenwoordigheid van Vance werd niet alleen gevoeld door de Vlaamse en Nederlandse SF-lezers, maar heeft ook een enorme invloed gehad op het schrijverstalent van eigen bodem.In deze hommage aan Vance presenteert Spatterlight 19 verhalen van Nederlandstalige auteurs die stuk voor stuk door hem beïnvloed werden.
