A partir des annees 1980 Wolfgang Pohrt s’en prend dans de nombreux livres, articles de journaux et interventions publiques aux tendances antisemites et antiamericaines de la nouvelle gauche allemande. Il attaque alors, entre autres, le mouvement pacifiste dans lequel il voit le representant d’un nouveau nationalisme allemand decomplexe. En 1997 parait un de ses livres les plus theoriques : Brothers in Crime. Le livre a pour sous-titre : L’etre humain a l’epoque de son inutilite. De l’origine des groupes, cliques, bandes, rackets et gangs. Pohrt y decrit le processus de dissolution de la societe, depuis les debuts du capitalisme moderne et l’epoque jusqu’au crime organise moderne en passant par le capitalisme developpe de l’epoque de Georges Duroy, le heros du roman de Guy de Maupassant, Bel Ami. Le propos de Pohrt n’est pas que la societe est de plus en plus minee par des bandes et par le crime organise. La verite singuliere de la societe capitaliste n’est pas que tout y est organise en bandes, mais que tout parait y etre organise en bandes. Certes, derriere cette apparence se cache la vieille contradiction entre le salariat et le capital. Mais on ne peut expliquer cette apparence que donne la societe post-bourgeoise en renvoyant a la seule nature de la production capitaliste. L’observation sociologique selon laquelle des bandes se forment dans tous les domaines sociaux, la possibilite de decrire, d’une facon generale, des processus sociaux en termes de bandes et de formation de bandes, ainsi que le fait que l’individu est pret a concevoir en termes de formation de bandes, non seulement lui-meme, mais aussi ses rapports sociaux, tout cela n’est possible que sous certaines conditions. C’est seulement quand l’individu est atomise et impuissant, quand il n’est donc plus capable – comme c’etait la caracteristique de l’individu bourgeois – de faconner sa propre vie et son propre environnement, quand il ne peut plus se menager un regne plus ou moins grand de liberte ou il pourrait agir – c’est alors seulement que l’individu peut se fondre dans une bande. Depuis le debut des annees 2000, les prises de parole de Pohrt se font plus rares. Il y a quelques mois, il a publie un petit livre chez l’editeur Tiamat ; son editeur de toujours : Kapitalismus Forever (remarques sur la crise, la guerre, la revolution, l’evolution, le christianisme et l’islam). Wolfgang Pohrt (ne en 1945) est un sociologue et auteur allemand. Il vit et travaille a Stuttgart. Dans ses ecrits, Pohrt revendique sa filiation intellectuelle : Marx, Adorno et Horkheimer, Hannah Arendt... Il est l'auteur de quelque 20 ouvrages. Cet ouvrage est le premier titre traduit en francais.
