On the outskirts of the town of Red River, they waited.
They waited patiently.
They never got in a hurry; if they were caught committing such a nefarious act, they would surely be put in prison for the rest of their natural lives, for committing such an unnatural act against humanity.
So, they waited - patiently.
Their patience paid off.
Before long, right before midnight, she came strolling down the dirt road toward town. A young thing; so petite and pretty and best of all, so naive.
So innocent and unsuspecting.
So trustful; the naive happiness of youth before it was to be so cruelly taken away.
Her name was Elnora.
She was the daughter of James and Patty Talbot, two dirt poor farmers who barely scraped by. But they were also devout in their faith, and had raised Elnora to be the same, so not much ever had their daughter feeling down for long.
Tonight, as she hopped skipped and jumped down the dirt road, humming to herself, with not a care in the world, she had absolutely no idea of what horrors awaited her only a few yards away.
Where they waited.
As she neared the rural route three sign on the outskirts of town, they couldn't be patient any longer; if they allowed Elnora to pass the town limits, they could be discovered committing their terrible act, and their dark, long hidden secrets would be revealed to all, and they couldn't have that.
That would ruin everything.
So, they waited.
Then, they took her.
Kicking and screaming she went, struggling against her captors, but to no avail; moments later, she vanished into the darkness of the woods, yet another young girl disappeared, just like the two girls before her.
They were just getting started.
