About the Book

Wireless and Mobile Networks: Concepts and Protocols provides an explanation on the wireless network concepts, architectures, protocols, and applications. It covers the wireless networks such as wireless body area network (WBAN), wireless local area networks (WLANs), wireless metropolitan area networks (WMANs), wireless wide area network (WWAN), wireless sensor networks, wireless vehicle networks, and research challenges in wireless networks. The book addresses the design issues and explores various emerging protocols for wireless networks.

About the Author

Dr. Sunilkumar S. Manvi, is currently working as Professor and Head of Information Science and Engineering Department in REVA Institute of Technology and Management, Bangalore. He has also worked as Assistant Professor and Professor and Head of Electronics and Communication Engineering Department, Basaveshwar Engineering College, Bagalkot and as lecturer in BLDEA’s Engineering College between 1987 and 1994. His areas of interests include - wireless/wired networks, agent technology and fuzzy applications in networks, e-commerce, grid computing and communications. Dr Manvi has published over 25 papers in referred national/international Journals and 70 papers in referred national/international conferences. Three of his papers “Agent technology applications in communications”, “Multicast Routing in MANETs by using Multiagent Systems” and “Intelligent Product information presentation in E-Commerce” were among the top downloaded articles published by Elsevier Journals “Computer Communications”, “Information Sciences” and “Journal of System Software”, respectively. He has coauthored two books “Communication Protocol Engineering” and “Computer Concepts and C Programming” published by Prentice Hall India in year 2004 and 2007, respectively. These books have been used as text books at VTU Belgaum and Anna University. He has been included in Marqui’s Who’s Who in World and International Biography of Cambridge, London in the year 2006. He is awarded as International Educator of the year in 2006 by IBC, London in year 2006 for noteworthy contributions in the areas of communication networks. He has research collaboration with eminent professors from Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, Flordia University, USA, Imperial College, London and Uppsala University, Sweden. Dr Manvi holds a B.E. (Electronics & Communication) degree from Karnataka University, Dharwad ; M.E. (Electronics) from UVCE, Bangalore; Ph. D from Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. Mahabaleshwar S. Kakkasageri, is currently a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Basaveshwar Engineering College, Bagalkot, Karnataka. He has published three papers in referred national/international Journals and six papers in referred national/international conferences. He holds an M. Tech degree from Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) Belgaum, Karnataka and is pursuing his Ph. D in the area of Vehicular Ad hoc Networks (VANETs).
