About the Author: Message from the author:
From a young age, I have been intensely curious - seeking to understand humans and their place in the universe. When still a youth, I started collecting wisdom quotes, maxims, and proverbs. That continued unabated well into my senior years. A lifelong learner, I explored the realms of philosophy, religion, anthropology, sociology, psychology, ecology, and the mundane tasks of daily living. Most importantly, I assessed the relevance and value of the wisdom I collected by applying them to my own life. Recently, I felt called to harvest the best of my wisdom seeking into a a single volume and present it as a gift to the world through readers like you. I hope what has been formative and beneficial to me in my life journey will be worthwhile for you as well.
What if I were to tell you more about myself? Would you read it with different eyes because of my religious upbringing and affiliations? Would you read it differently if you knew I was a born-again prisoner who had lived a life of violent crime, or a saint whose manuscript was published posthumously? a world-renowned religious scholar? Would your perspective change if you knew I was a billionaire? or a pauper who relied on the generosity of others for food, clothing and shelter? if I was a man or woman?
I believe it is difficult if not impossible for us to keep from creating preconceptions and biases about a message based on our beliefs about the messenger. After much thought, because I want this book to stand or fail based solely on its content and not the reputation of its author, I decided to publish Wisdom for a Better World anonymously using the pen name, Agape. I bring you these words not in my name, but in the name of love.
