About the Book

Everything we learn comes from wisdom. The inner city is a place of violence and poverty, a place filled with hurting and wounded people. Young men are carted off to jail leaving young mothers behind. Authority figures command respect while the ultimate authority in a young man's life - his father, has abandoned his family. Resentment grows like apples on trees, gangs battle over everything from girls to guns. Fear grows, kids go to jail, children have babies and young people die. There is a way out and it's the process of putting wisdom into practice. This book will help you raise your children.Help you build healthy relationships.Help you learn to understand pain and brokenness.Help you remove resentment.Help you stop and prevent violence. This book will give you emotional heart nuggets to chew on as you learn how to grow empathy and compassion. This book is filled with stories and each chapter contains Heart Storming Questions. They can be used as part of a study through discussion or simply personal reflection.Everyone is a mentor to somebody. Commitment, perseverance, trust and hope are the hallmarks of a good Mentor. Who will help our children become all that they can be?
About the Author: Bob is a respected husband, proud father and grateful son. His greatest joy is to see the "Ah Ha!" in a child's eyes when they understand what unconditional love is. As the Founder and Director of Youth With A Purpose, he has collaborated with many organizations and people to help mentor thousands of young people. Bob and his wife Linda are Relationship Mentors who teach children and adults how to build healthy relationships. His experiences have helped him to become a published author. Bob is the Founder/Director of Youth With A Purpose Inc. YWAP is a Relationship Mentoring Program that has been working with young people for over 10 years. YWAP Programs can be found in school, after school, in the neighborhood and in the mountains. Our Classroom Mentoring Program helps raise grades and reduce behavioral problems in the Buffalo Schools. Bob is an experienced wilderness guide who has helped many young people climb the mountains of life as well as the Adirondack Mountains in NY. Children are sometimes safer on top of a mountain than they are on city streets. Buffalo, NY is one of the most impoverished and violent cities in America. As a member of Climbing for Christ, Bob trekked on Mt. Kilimanjaro along with serving in orphanages in Tanzania and Malawi. Bob loves to see the look on a gang members face as he or she stands on top of a mountain for the first time. The greatest view in the world is the sight of accomplishment as a young person stands atop one of the mountains of life. We believe in teaching healthy relationship skills. A young lady should expect to be respected by a young man. All children are gifted. Bob is a speaker, songwriter, and published author ("Prayer The Book" and "Wisdom from the Hood.") His favorite sayings are: "It's good to see you!" "How can I help you?" "Thanks for your time, go do something nice for somebody!" "Jesus loves you and so do we!"
