About the Book

The Wish is a magical story about two young fairies, Audrey and Vivienne, who live in a colorful village. Audrey does not speak with words yet, and Vivienne is kind and includes Audrey in all that she does. They are surprised by a fairy godmother that grants them three wishes, and what they do with these wishes will warm your heart and spread joy and kindness to all who read this book. The Wish will inspire and teach everyone about kindness, inclusion, and the value of focusing on the ability in disability. www.audreymccarton.com
About the Author: Tara McCarton was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, and currently resides in Garden City, New York. She met her husband, Jimmy, in 2010, and they were married in 2011. They had their first daughter, Audrey, in 2012. Audrey was diagnosed with microcephaly at three months of age. Tara's mission is to put a positive story about microcephaly and children with developmental delays into the world. Tara was told Audrey would never "walk, talk, or be a ballerina." Audrey has been walking since she was two and a half years old and talks to Tara in her dreams, so she knows she will speak someday. Tara had Vivienne almost two years later in 2014. On Christmas Day 2017, Vivienne's wish to Santa was for Audrey to talk, and this is the inspiration for The Wish. You can read more about Audrey's story at www.audreymccarton.com or search for the hashtag #audreystory. Allison is a smart, funny, and caring twenty-two-year-old who loves to draw. Allison has been drawing to express her thoughts since she was a little girl. She loves puppies and babysitting and is very creative. She may have a disability, but she has a special ability to bring joy to everyone around her. Tara was at a birthday party at Allison's house and looked at the artwork on her wall and couldn't believe the drawings she saw. They were exactly what she needed for her book. Tara had been searching for an illustrator, only to find her right in her backyard! Allison currently is a college student in Garden City, New York. She lives with her wonderful mom and her brother, Alex, who also has special needs.
