Designed for readers beyond picture books, but not so advanced that fun and imagination are removed, Wishing Wells and Broken Tales fills that important niche. Reference pictures are included, but not enough to restrict a child's reading practice and development at that next important level. Reading fun begins when Jack and Jill meet familiar nursery rhyme characters as they explore along a forest trail. They meet Boney, a dog embarrassed when Mother Hubbard tells him that since the cupboard is bare, he will have to find his own bones. They also meet Patience, one of the children who lives with the woman in the shoe. And of course, a real story wouldn't be complete until there's a race between a rabbit and a turtle, a turtle who thinks he's a rabbit. Other exciting characters include the evil witch who likes to bake Hansel and Gretel cookies in the gingerbread house. And, we can never forget Little Miss Muffett who has a problem with an interesting spider, named Creepie. While children have fun, they also learn important concepts of responsibility, cooperation, and acceptance of others.
About the Author: Will Clark's author experiences began by writing inspection and evaluation reports in the U.S. Air Force. He is a retired Air Force officer and a Vietnam veteran, serving in Saigon from 1966 to 1967. His other overseas assignments include Misawa, Japan and Ankara, Turkey. In 1995, he authored a book, How to Learn, as a county-wide study skills project to encourage students to improve their grades in DeSoto County, Mississippi. Education supporters printed and distributed four thousand copies. He also wrote a weekly education column for a local newspaper, The Desoto County Tribune, the following school year. His book, How to Learn has been updated and is now available everywhere. His next published book was School Bells and Broken Tales, a parody of nursery rhyme characters, also a motivation and education book for children. His other books include Shades of Retribution, a historical novel, and Simply Success, a motivation guide for students and employees. His latest action novel, The Atlantis Crystal, is the first of a trilogy based on Atlantis and crystals. The other two, coming soon, are: She Waits in Atlantis, and The Burning Crystal. This trilogy is based on his travels while assigned to Turkey, site of the ancient city of Troy. He is a past member of Toastmasters, a life member of Optimists International, a past Optimist Club president and a past Optimist area lieutenant governor.
