Diplomarbeit aus dem Jahr 2000 im Fachbereich BWL - Informationswissenschaften, Informationsmanagement, Note: 1.3, Universität Passau, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: In den siebziger Jahren erschien das zweite Hauptwerk zum sozioökonomischen Wandel, Daniel Bells "Die nachindustrielle Gesellschaft". Als Kennzeichen der postindustriellen Gesellschaft nennt er neben dem zunehmenden Übergewicht der Dienstleistungswirtschaft über die produzierende Wirtschaft die zentrale Stellung des theoretischen Wissens. Die Hauptursache für den Übergang von der industriellen zur postindustriellen Gesellschaft ist seiner Ansicht nach ein Wandel in der Art des Wissens in Richtung auf eine Kodifizierung des theoretischen Wissens. Sowohl Bell als auch Fourastié schildern wichtige Teilaspekte der Wissensgesellschaft. Allerdings stecken beide den Rahmen zu eng. Die Wissensgesellschaft umfasst mehr Wissensbereiche und Wirtschaftssektoren als von ihnen angenommen. Bells Hervorhebung des "theoretischen Wissens", also des wissenschaftlichen Wissens, führt dazu, dass die von ihm geschilderte postindustrielle Gesellschaft eher als Wissenschaftsgesellschaft denn als Wissensgesellschaft zu bezeichnen wäre. Damit erkennt er zwar die zukunftsträchtige Rolle der wissensbasierten Technologie und technikrealisierten Wissenschaft, aber sieht die fast noch größere Transformationskraft der Informations- und Telekommunikationstechnologien in den außerwissenschaftlichen Anwendungsfeldern nicht. Die Wissensgesellschaft beschränkt sich auch nicht auf den von Fourastié betonten Dienstleistungssektor. Zwar ist im tertiären Sektor der Prozess, der die Wissensgesellschaft charakterisiert, nämlich dass Wissen zum zentralen Element des gesellschaftlichen und wirtschaftlichen Lebens wird, besonders stark im Gange. Aber auch im primären und sekundären Sektor kommt es zu einer Verlagerung der wertschöpfenden Tätigkeiten von der Hand- zur Kopfarbeit.
