About the Book

The Wooden Bridge and Other Stories is a collection of short stories, Asian folk tales, and chilling ghost stories. Written by an Asian lady who has lived in Singapore for over 40 years, it provides an appealing glimpse into the life, culture, and folk legends of the South East Asian region. This book is suitable for both children and adults.
About the Author: Thahera Manzur lives and works in Singapore, the setting of many of her stories. She has a warm and loving nature, forged while growing up in a large, prominent family known for their charity and generosity to the less fortunate. She has traveled to dozens of countries with her ship captain husband and met people from many nationalities and walks of life. She is fluent in multiple languages and is translating this book into several languages besides English. Thahera spent her early years raising her daughter, then continued her own education, earning a professional certificate in business studies and a diploma in business from the Management Development Institute of Singapore (MDIS). She is now a busy career woman who works full-time as a Management Information Systems Consultant for an IT and Engineering Services company. The Manzurs often travel to the US to visit their daughter and her family. Thahera is very proud of her daughter, an accomplished businesswoman, and her little granddaughter who is developing into an excellent student, athlete, and musician. It is Thahera's dream that all children, particularly girls, obtain a good education and have opportunities to succeed and thrive in life. Thahera regularly spends time helping the neighbourhood children with their homework, playing educational games that stimulate their intellects, and encouraging them to succeed in their studies. She enjoys walking in nature, and swimming and jogging for exercise. She is also an avid reader and particularly appreciates the writings of Jules Verne and Arthur C. Clarke.
