About the Book

This book will take us from the first steps of the Homo sapiens in Sumer when they discovered the learning of writing and symbols. After Sumer other powers near rivers like the River Nile that would give life to Egypt with her floods. In a power vacuum the Hittites, Egypt and Assyria entered decline when the Sea People, the Philistines who now used iron weapons instead of bronze weapons attacked them. The Israelis were able to prosper and have Judge Samuel bring the first king of Israel Saul who would die and then replaced by David who would try to be a good king but with sins. David saw a beautiful woman as ever a beautiful woman bathing she was named Bathsheba and she had a husband Uriah who David sent to the front lines to be killed so David could marry the woman, David having impregnated Bathsheba he married her. Knowing the sins of David, a prophet Nathan came to see David and reprehend his sins. The son of David and Bathsheba became the successor of David who had conquered the City of Jerusalem. The son of Bathsheba and David would become a great king the wise Levant King Solomon who was able to create the cusp of Israeli military power with ships and war chariots. The decline of Israel would happened with the fall of the kingdom of Israel against the Neo-Assyrian Empire in 722 BC and then the kingdom of Judah would fall with the Neo Babylonians in the siege led by king Nebuchadnezzar in 586 BC. The Persian King Cyrus brought back the Israelis from their Babylonian exile and back to Israel and Jerusalem. The Persians began fighting against the Greek states that would fight together winning the 490 BC Battle of Marathon, the Persians would win in the Battle of Thermopylae, the Persians were stopped in 479 in the Battle of Plataea. The Peloponnesian War began with the rivalries of ranks between Athens against the Peloponnesians and Sparta. The Athenian leader Pericles fought a war with triremes pillaging the Peloponnesian coasts. The Athenians were able to defeat the Spartans in the Battle in the Island of Spactheria in 425 BC but to their failure in the Syracuse and Sicilian campaigns, Athens lost the war. Sparta would fall, the Macedonian King Philip had prepared an army to conquered Greece then Philip was killed, 19 years old Alexander would finally conquered all of the Greek cities. Alexander the Great appeared in Asia, when he conquered the whole of the Persian Empire after his victory at the Battle of Gaugamela in 331 BC, he would try and fail to conquer other worlds when he failed to conquer India and then his Macedonian infantry mutinied. Alexander died at 32, he died at Babylon and when he was asked who would receive his empire he said the strongest. Ptolemy took Alexander´s corpse and took it to Egypt to govern his new empire in Egypt. The Maccabees would rule Judea after the Greeks until the coming of the Roman Consul Pompey Magnus who came about the 60s BC to conquer the Levant for Rome. Then the wars for the Mediterranean between Rome and Carthage in three Punic Wars fought in 264-241 BC for Rome to gain Sicily. The Second Punic War ensued in 218-201 BC and Hannibal won his greatest victory in the Battle of Cannae in 216 BC, he slayed 80 000 Romans. Carthage refused to siege Rome and now Hannibal could not win the war. Hannibal returned to defend Carthage from Scipio Africanus victor of the Battle of Zama of 202 BC. The year 146 BC is significant to Rome for both the siege of Carthage which was destroyed along with the Roman victory of Corinth in Greece, the Roman Republic became the first real super power in history and to read how another humble start and unlikely as a colony became a super power you must continue reading this book to see the rise of the super power of the United States of America.
