Welche Ideal- und Schreckensbilder von Lehrkräften sind in der medialen Auseinandersetzung mit dem Lehrerberuf zu erkennen? Inwiefern sind die hier erkennbaren Erwartungen an Lehrkräfte überhaupt mit ihrer gesellschaftlichen Funktion vereinbar? Letztendlich nähert sich die Autorin so der Frage nach Konsequenzen der öffentlichen Diskussion über Art und Inhalt schulischer Bildung: Was bedeutet die mediale Auseinandersetzung mit dem Lehrerberuf für die Institution Schule und ihre Akteure? Alessa Reuter bietet einen umfassenden Einblick in die Grundlagen strukturtheoretischer Betrachtungen der Lehrerrolle und verknüpft diese mit der Analyse fiktionaler Lehrerhandlungen der Figuren der untersuchten Werke. Mit ihrem Buch legt sie eine verständliche Einführung vor in die theoretische Verortung der Institution Schule im gesellschaftlichen Kontext und legt ihr Konfliktpotential im Schulalltag dar.
