Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2005 im Fachbereich BWL - Unternehmensführung, Management, Organisation, Note: 1,7, Universität Konstanz (FB Verwaltungswissenschaft), Veranstaltung: Entwicklung von Führungskompetenzen, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: "Ziel" gehört etymologisch zur Wortgruppe "Zeit" und erhielt im Laufe der Entwicklung eine Bedeutung als räumlicher und zeitlicher Endpunkt (Schüler Duden 1987: 482). Steckt sich eine natürliche Person ein Ziel, so definiert sie darüber eine Vorgabe, die sich auf zukünftig angestrebte Handlungsresultate bezieht (Kohnke 2002: 38 zitiert nach Locke/Latham 1990). Also beeinflussen Ziele menschliches Handeln, bzw. kann menschliches Handeln durch Ziele und deren Vorgabe beeinflusst werden. In der betrieblichen Praxis werden Ziele bereits seit langem, in rudimentärer Form wahrscheinlich schon seit der Geburtsstunde der ersten Arbeitsorganisation vereinbart (Bungard 2002: 22). Wissenschaftliche Beachtung fanden Ziele erstmals 1912, als in den Ach-Hillgruberschen Schwierigkeitsgesetzen formuliert wurde, dass mit steigender Schwierigkeit einer übernommenen Aufgabe unreflektiert die willentliche Anstrengung zu deren Erfüllung steigt (Kohnke 2002: 38). Die Zielsetzungstheorie im heutigen Sinne wurde aus der ursprünglichen Frage, warum manche Arbeitnehmer ceteris paribus bessere Leistungen zeigen als andere (Kohnke 2002: 38), in den letzten 35 Jahren induktiv aus mehreren hundert empirischen Untersuchungen entwickelt (Locke/Latham 2002: 705) und gilt als eine der validesten Theorien für Arbeitsmotivation im organisationspsychologischen Kontext (Locke/Latham 2002: 714). Die vorliegende Arbeit beschäftigt sich zunächst mit den Kernaussagen der Zielsetzungstheorie und dem darauf basierenden, von Locke und Latham 1990 entwickelten High Performance Cycle, der den Zusammenhang von Zieleigenschaften und Performanz als Kreislauf, mit Hilfe diverser Mediatoren und Moderatoren erklärt.
