Ereignis und Erinnerung, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Die vorliegende Arbeit beschäftigt sich im Rahmen des Proseminars "Frankreich und der Algerienkrieg. Ereignis und Erinnerung" sowohl mit den schrittweise eingeleiteten Unabhängigkeitsbestrebungen der über 130 Jahre marginalisierten, indigenen Bevölkerung Algeriens als auch den darauf folgenden politischen Reaktionen der IV.- und V. Republik. Der besondere Fokus soll dabei auf den so oft als "Vater der Dekolonisierung" bezeichneten, ersten Präsident und Gründer der V. Republik, Charles de Gaulle und dessen neokolonialistische Politik gelegt werden. Dabei stellt sich die Frage, ob das Handeln des Generals wie so oft behauptet prädeterminiertes Vorgehen war oder ob vielmehr der Lauf der Geschichte Charles de Gaulle vor sich her trieb und dieser sich den ändernden Verhältnissen nur geschickt anzupassen wusste. Vor diesem Hintergrund ist es allerdings auch unerlässlich, die französische Okkupation in Algerien als Ganzes zu betrachten um etwaige politische sowie militärische Reaktionen beider Seiten im Verlaufe des Unabhängigkeitskrieges, rückblickend besser verstehen zu können. Von besonderem Interesse sind hierbei der politische Status Algeriens im Verhältnis zur indigenen Bevölkerung und die nicht zu unterschätzenden Siedler des französischen Algerien. Alle diese Komponenten müssen einer genaueren Betrachtung unterzogen werden, um den Gesamtkomplex der letzten großen Entkolonialisierungskrise Frankreichs verstehen und nachvollziehen zu können.
