Während die Liebesdinge gut vorankommen, wird es in Sennwangs Umfeld zunehmend ungemütlich. Mehrere Unglücksfälle, merkwürdige Vorgänge und ein obskurer Bekannter aus früheren Tagen bringen das Paar in größte Gefahr.
About the Author: Wolfgang Sanden, 1946 in Hildesheim geboren, war nach Abitur und Mathematikstudium dreißig Jahre lang in verschiedenen Berufen der IT-Branche tätig. Heute arbeitet er als freier Schriftsteller. Sanden ist verheiratet und hat zwei erwachsene Söhne. Außer "Die Quote" hat der Autor zehn weitere Bücher veröffentlicht. In der Polit-Fiktion "Der Filmfälscher" ist es der Stasi gelungen, unbemerkt eigene Leute in höchste Regierungsämter zu bringen. "Daktylysator oder Wichardts schöne neue Welt" thematisiert den Missbrauch biometrischer Daten, hier des elektronischen Fingerabdrucks, indem er das Szenario eines revolutionären Umsturzes entwirft. Die Erzählung "Letztes Klassentreffen" schildert die Zusammenkunft ehemaliger Schüler 42 Jahre nach dem Abitur, die zunächst in heiteren Erinnerungen schwelgt, ehe sie zu einer Abrechnung über scheinbar längst vergangene Ereignisse wird. Die Gefahren rapide steigender Gesundheitskosten in einer alternden Gesellschaft greift der Roman "Und wissen ihr Ende doch" auf. Eine gentechnische Entdeckung eröffnet den politisch Verantwortlichen ungeahnte Einsparungsmöglichkeiten - auf Kosten von Ethik und Moral. "Phytomania" ist eine Satire auf die gesellschaftlichen Befindlichkeiten dieser Tage, die durch die Neigung zu kollektiver Erregung und Verschwörungstheorien - beide durch die Geschwätzigkeit der Medien, insbesondere der "sozialen Netze" befeuert - gekennzeichnet sind. Protagonist der Kriminalromane "Mordsbeginn", "Aulenstein", "Falsch kalkuliert", "Zerrieben" und "Das zweite Band" ist Dagolf Sennwang, ein IT-Spezialist, der eher zufällig in Kriminalfälle gerät.
