Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2008 im Fachbereich Kunst - Fotografie und Film, Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn, Veranstaltung: Hauptseminar: Kunst und Kultur der 60er Jahre, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: "Die Kunst ist die höchste Form von Hoffnung."(Richter) In der zweiten Hälfte der fünfziger Jahre zeichnete sich Düsseldorf durch eine große Liberalität gegenüber Neuem und Unbekanntem aus und galt als ein bedeutsames, künstlerisches Zentrum Deutschlands. Die harmonische Koexistenz verschiedenster Kunstrichtungen, die ihre Ziele und Ideen verwirklichten, beeindruckte und inspirierte auch den Maler Gerhard Richter, der 1961 aus der DDR in den Westen zog, sein Studium an der Düsseldorfer Kunstakademie begann und sich bis heute zu einem der bedeutendsten Künstler unserer Zeit entwickelte. Als "Chamäleon der bildenden Kunst" bezeichnet, löste Richter mit seinen Werken bei dem Betrachter immer wieder Irritation aus, da er keiner bestimmten Kunstrichtung oder Technik treu blieb. Durch stetige Veränderung seiner malerischen Techniken, Themen und Motive, vermied er stets eine Einordnung seiner Person und Malerei in eine bestimmte Sparte. Fotorealistische Bilder sind in seiner Werkübersicht ebenso enthalten wie abstrakte Werke, monochrom oder polychrom will er sich weder auf eine gegenständliche noch auf eine ungegenständliche Malerei festlegen. Von vielen Kritikern mit dem Begriff der "Stilheterogenität" tituliert, lässt sich sein vielfältiges Werk daher nur schwer einordnen. Dennoch erweckt er bis heute mit seiner Kunst - nach einigen Anlaufschwierigkeiten - großes Interesse beim Publikum. Neben jährlichen Ausstellungen in den siebziger Jahren, fanden ab Mitte der Achtziger immer wieder Retrospektiven zu Ehren des Künstlers statt. Einige der größten dabei 1993 in Paris, Bonn, Stockholm und Madrid sowie 2002/03 in New York, Chicago, San Francisco und Washington. Neben vielen abstrakten Werken, beschäftigt sich Richter vor allem auch mit dem Zusammenwirken
