Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2009 im Fachbereich Kunst - Architektur, Baugeschichte, Denkmalpflege, Note: 1,0, Technische Universität Berlin, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Nach den Jahren 1855, 1867 und 1878 fand 1889 die Weltausstellung (6. Mai - 31. Oktober) erneut in Paris statt. Die Weltausstellung stand ganz im Zeichen der Jahrhundertfeier der Erstürmung der Bastille am 14. Juli 1789 und der damit verbundenen Auflösung des Feudalismus. Frankreich hatte sich nach dem Deutsch - Französischen Krieg von 1870/71 politisch und finanziell wieder erholt und seine Kolonien trugen u. a. dazu bei, sich neben England in die Rolle einer Weltmacht einzureihen. Dies führte im übrigen Europa zu Unsicherheiten und Bedrohungsängsten. Fast alle Länder drückten dies mit einer Nichtbeteiligung an der Weltausstellung aus. Seitens der Regierung sah man möglicherweise den erwarteten Erfolg der Weltausstellung dadurch gefährdet, dass ein deutlicher Zusammenhang zwischen dem Revolutionsjubiläum und der Ausstellung ersichtlich wird. Daher erwähnte man das hundertjährige Jubiläum der Französischen Revolution nur beiläufig und hielt bewusst politische Dinge heraus. Die offizielle Begründung der Regierung lautete, dass die Weltausstellung von 1889 in Paris (L´Exposition universelle de 1889 á Paris) ein Jahrhundert des Fortschritts vergegenwärtigen sollte. Das Besondere an der Weltausstellung war, und darin unterscheidet sie sich von den vorangegangenen, dass diese vor allem im Zeichen der Elektrizität stand. Es war vor allem der Siegeszug der Elektrizität in den Bereichen der Industrie und des Beleuchtungswesens, der die Besucher beeindruckte. Durch die elektrischen Einrichtungen war es möglich, die Ausstellungstore bis spät in die Nacht offen zu lassen, das bisher bei noch keiner Ausstellung möglich gewesen war. Die vorliegende Arbeit richtet ihren Schwerpunkt auf diese Besonderheit der Weltausstellung. Sie geht der Frage nach, wie Licht auf dieser Weltausstellung inszeniert wurde, und
