Herta Blicklings Gedichte gedeihen in einem Garten voller blühenden Gemeinsamkeit mit Blume und Tier, wachsen sich dann aus zu einem Park mit eigenen Wanderwegen in der Wortlandschaft. Nur hie und da ein Vers wie eben eine Parkbank zum Ausruhen. Die Gedichte sind getrieben von der inneren Unruh, sie gleiten zwischen Himmel und Erde, von der Liebe bis zur entschiedenen Abkehr vom gängigen Leben. Im eignen Sein sind Schätze tief vergraben, verrät die Dichterin, wobei der Anlauf schon an die Frage prallt wer bin ich. Herta Blickling scheut sich nicht auch arg strapazierte Worte wie Seele, Himmel, Sterne, Leben und Herz in die Pflicht zu nehmen, um lakonisch zu schlussfolgern, wir werden das Geheimnis Liebe nie ergründen. Ihre Verse kämpfen gegen Vorurteile, Klischees und die Diktatur der Standartmeinung, wobei die Angriffsverse sich manchmal ebenfalls derselben abgedroschenen Worte bedienen müssen. Das Herzensanliegen dieser Gedichte ist der Wunsch, aus der grauen Masse sich erheben. Viele der Bilder klingen vertraut, manchmal fast zu bekannt, behalten aber trotz der oft überflüssigen Reime ihre Aufrichtigkeit, ja Dringlichkeit. Das Ungenaue hat einen magischen Reiz, verführt die Dichterin zu unerwarteten Bekenntnissen hinweg von der Rhetorik des Erhabenen, ich möchte noch einmal im Zaubergarten der Musik mir ein Butterbrot streichen.

Ein Thema, das wie ein Motiv der Beständigkeit über den Texten schwebt, ist die Hinwendung zu Gott. Beim Lesen der Gedichte ergibt sich der Eindruck von einer ersehnten Nähe, mehr Freundschaft als Verehrung, ich wäre so glücklich mit Gott allein. Nun, Freund Gott findet Herta Blickling immer wieder in der Natur und nicht in den Gegebenheiten der Gegenwartsmenschen. Wer fragt nach dem zertretenen Gänseblümchen ist ein zaghafter Hilferuf der sich zur Anklage gegen die allgemeine Arroganz steigert, oh mein Gott, welche Pein, wenn man dichtend in der Welt ist inmitten euch gestellt. So bleibt das Fazit der Dichterin nicht die Hinnahme und Aneignung der gegebenen Realität, sondern ihre Verwandlung in eine höhere Bestimmung der persönlichen Wahrnehmung auch des eigenen Lebens: ...ich nehme es nur wahr, wenn sich in seinem Wesen ein Lied macht offenbar.
